TIPCHECK – Chemical Processing Industry
The Result
Our TIPCHECK Experts comprehensively provided a TIPCHECK energy audit within the chemical processing industry. With the use of infrared cameras, our engineers identified several areas with improvement opportunities, more specifically, several Blank Ends, Valves, Flanges and various sizes of process piping were identified.
Using the data gathered from the initial on-site audit, potential energy consumption, CO2e emissions and cost savings were calculated using the TIPCHECK Tool. The figures were generated through the Insulation Energy Efficiency Classification method.
The Numbers

The Challenge
Tasked with improving plant efficiency, we were responsible with locating areas where the most energy was being wasted across the plant’s processes. These heat losses not only make processes less efficient, but also contribute to additional Co2 and energy usage and therefore increased operational costs.
What We Delivered
Our specially trained TIPCHECK Experts inspected the steam and condensate lines of the chemical processing plant in Yorkshire. Assessing sections with the heat gun which were suspected of being inefficient through heat loss.
Once the areas had been scanned and all the data had been collected on these areas of the plant, our experts evaluated the data in line with the energy efficiency classification method.
The outcome of this meticulous TIPCHECK audit resulted in a saving of approximately £8,446.00 per year on energy costs, should the suggested insulation rectification work be carried out.
This would also result in a reduction of 18 tonnes per year of CO2e emissions, contributing towards net zero goals.
Factoring in the cost of the suggested changes by our experts, it is estimated that the payback period would be just 15 months.
